New Delhi, September 09: Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang today inaugurated the vertically extended and refurbished Sikkim Guest House at Punjabari, Guwahati, marking the completion of its upgradation aimed at providing improved accommodation and enhanced convenience to the people of Sikkim visiting Assam.
The upgraded Guest House now comprises 20 rooms, including two VIP suites, along with a quarter block comprising five flat units and two dormitories. The facility is expected to serve as a comfortable “home away from home” for Sikkimese visitors, including students from the State pursuing their studies in Guwahati.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister appealed to all officials, guests and visitors to treat the Guest House as their own and ensure its proper upkeep and maintenance. He emphasised that collective responsibility and care would help preserve the facilities and ensure that they continue to benefit the people of Sikkim for years to come.
The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of serving Sikkimese cuisine at the Guest House, underscoring the need to bring a taste of home to Sikkimese people residing in or visiting Assam.
He expressed hope that the upgraded facility would not only provide greater comfort and convenience to Sikkimese visitors but also contribute towards further strengthening the longstanding bonds of friendship, cooperation and shared progress between Sikkim and Assam.
The refurbished Sikkim Guest House is envisioned as a welcoming space that reflects the State Government’s commitment to the welfare and convenience of its people beyond the geographical boundaries of Sikkim.
